Overview
The starting point of this day hike is Kande which you can reach by car or bus (1 hour). A gentle climb from Kande through the villages and forests will take you to Australian Camp where you will have great mountain views of the Annapurna Range. From Australian Camp you continue to Dhampus, a picturesque village, the most photographed in the Pokhara valley. Leaving Dhampus you descend to Phedi where a car or bus will take you back to Pokhara.
The elevation does not reach over 2000 meter so its easy family trekking. Weather along the trek is quite warm except in December and January. Snow is not expected. The trail is very much used by local people and traders. Teashops dotted all along the trail make the walk interesting. The famous Machhapuchare peak (Mateerhorn of Nepal) can always be seen from any point on this trek. You will also have an opportunity for a close look at the daily lives of the villagers of the ethnic Gurung people.
